Began his professional career at M/s Design Consortium (Pvt...) Ltd.. (DCL) one of the leading architectural firms in Sri Lanka, after completing his architectural studies at the University of Moratuwa. As a pioneering officer of DC, he involved in many architectural projects covering housing neighborhoods, personalized housing, hotel development and many other projects of different uses.Later, in order to develop his interest in town planning -- joined the Urban Development Authority (UDA), a state institution responsible for the urban development of Sri Lanka. At UDA he was able to get involved in urban design, a number of regeneration programmes, and related urban renewal and urban centre projects in regional towns and medium & small towns in the country including city of Colombo. He has gained a vast experience in urban development which include, environmental planning, conservation and urban architecture.Further, he was the Head of the Colombo School of Architecture of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA), and he continues to serve as a lecturer and as a member of the Board of Academic Studies.He has also held key positions of the Council of SLIA as a Member, Honorary Secretary, Secretary and Chairman of Architectural Education, and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Architectural Publications
